Professional

After a 4 year tour in the Air Force, I started my career as a hardware and software engineer in 1995 at a startup. When I say startup, there were 4 of us when we started. I was soon the VP of engineering and we grew that company for 10 years until it was purchased by Philips.

Over the next 10 years at Philips, I shifted to helping teams to use Lean and Agile practices to focus on rapidly delivering value to customers. This involved conducting a lot of training and coaching. It was much more than just a new set of tools or a piece of software, it was a whole new way of thinking about the work that needed to be done. Guiding others through that kind of mindset change is how I found my way to being an Agile Coach!

Ever since then, I have been coaching leaders of all levels, from new college grads to senior executives and entrepreneurs. My focus is helping them to learn and grow through whatever transition they are facing. I am their confidential sounding board for ideas, thoughts and feelings. Together we explore what is and what could be. While we are realistic about obstacles and how to overcome them, we focus more on the positive potential to them and the world around them. Even though my focus is transitions in work and career, I am intentional about including family, health, spirituality and any other aspect that they define as what makes them a whole person.

Training and Certifications

My coach training comes from the CoActive Training Institute.

I have my Safe Program Consultant (SPC) for the Scaled Agile Framework.

I am a Lego Serious Play Facilitator (yes, this means I am certified to play with Lego’s  )

In Toastmasters I was a speech contest winner and speaker trainer

I also wrote a book on public speaking – Reach out and I will send it as a PDF for free.

And a great personal accomplishment is that I lost 100 lbs!

Personal

I live in Cumming, GA with my wife Tess and our dog Nala.

We both love to hike and explore. I love to scuba dive and snow ski, though Tess doesn’t do either. But she loves to find shells on the beach and sit by the fire in the lodge so it works out perfectly!

I keep my engineering sharp by making games and software for escape rooms in my company ClueControl. I also do a bit of woodworking as a creative outlet.

I hope this gives you an idea of my background and inspires you to want to learn more. If you have any questions or want to take that next step, please feel fee to contact me!
